Terms of Service
Terms of Service
The terms that apply when you order or enquire.
Last updated: 8 September 2026
1. Who these terms are with
These terms are between you and naomitranslates, R. Serpa Pinto, 1200-443 Lisboa, Portugal (support@naomitranslates.com, +351 210 409 173). By placing an order or submitting the contact form, you accept them.
2. What we provide
Certified & sworn translation, legal & business translation, technical & medical translation, website & app localization, interpreting, subtitling & transcription, and proofreading & editing, as described on the relevant service and order pages. The specific scope, price and turnaround for your order are those shown at checkout, or agreed in writing following a quote.
3. Placing an order
For packages bought through the cart, a contract is formed when we send you an order confirmation with a reference number. For quote-based work, a contract is formed when we confirm the quote in writing and you accept it. We may decline an order — for example, a scope we can't responsibly meet, or a document type outside what we offer — and if we do, any payment already taken is refunded in full.
4. Price and VAT
Prices shown on the site are in euro and include Portuguese VAT (IVA) at the standard rate of 23%, itemised at checkout. Language-pair, rush and add-on modifiers, where applicable, are shown before you complete an order.
5. Payment
Payment is taken through the method offered at checkout. At present, checkout operates in a clearly labelled demonstration mode — no live payment is processed and no card data is transmitted or stored — while we finalise a live payment provider; this notice will be removed once live payments are active.
6. Delivery
Digital work is delivered via a secure link to the email address on your order. A certified hard copy, where ordered, is sent by the registered-post option you choose; risk in a posted document passes to you on dispatch to the postal carrier, consistent with how registered post is generally treated under Portuguese consumer-delivery rules.
7. Confidentiality
We treat the content you send us as confidential. It's handled only by the translator and reviewer assigned to your project. We'll sign a mutual NDA on request.
8. Quality and amendments
Every order goes through the process described at How it works: translation, independent second-linguist revision, a QA check, and delivery. You have 14 days from delivery to request a free correction of an error or omission in the delivered work; see our Refund & Cancellation policy for the full terms.
9. Certification and acceptance
For certified work, we provide the translation, the translator's signed declaration, and notarial certification as described on the Certified Translation service page. We do not and cannot guarantee acceptance of a certified translation by a specific foreign authority; acceptance is decided by the receiving institution.
10. Right of withdrawal (distance-selling)
As a consumer buying at a distance, you generally have 14 days from the day of the contract to withdraw without giving a reason, under Portuguese Decree-Law 24/2014 (transposing the EU Consumer Rights Directive). This right does not apply once you've expressly asked for work to begin immediately and acknowledged, via the checkout consent checkbox, that you lose the right once that work has started; nor does it apply to certified documents or other work made to your specification once produced, which by nature can't be resold. Where the right does apply and you withdraw before work has started, you receive a full refund.
11. Liability
Our liability for a given order is limited to the amount paid for that order, except where liability can't be limited by law (for example, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). We aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for a third party's decision to accept or reject a document.
12. Complaints
If something goes wrong, contact us first at support@naomitranslates.com. You may also use Portugal's Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico (electronic complaints book, required of Portuguese businesses) or the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform, both linked in the footer.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Disputes are subject to the courts of Lisbon, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your own country of residence if you're an EU consumer.
14. Changes
We may update these terms; the version in force is the one published on this page, dated above, at the time you place your order.
